Dear Single Mom, This Is Why You Inspire Me

Dear Single Mom, This Is Why You Inspire Me

Dear Single Mom,

I want you to know that you give me hope. Life is so fragile. Relationships are fragile. As a married, stay-at-home mom of three very young girls, I often worry. What will I do if my husband loses his job? What if he gets sick? What if he gets hurt? What if something terrible happens?

And then I look at you.

You probably don’t always feel this way, but when I look at you I see strength. I see courage, determination, endurance, and self-sacrifice. I see a woman who overcomes obstacles; who gets things done and knows how to hold her own.

I see God’s hand working in every aspect of your life, and I take comfort in the fact that like you, I will never be alone.

You probably don’t always feel this way, but when I look at you I see strength.

I see your children who look up to you. I see the love-infused home you’ve built. In you I see the adoring mother, the inspiring teacher, the powerful leader, the hard worker, the faithful provider, and the dedicated parent all rolled into one.

You aren’t these things because you have to be. You aren’t these things merely because circumstances demand it. You are these things because it’s who you are. Going above and beyond is in your very nature. You’re exceptional.

And that gives me hope. Now, anytime I wonder, “What will I do if _______,” all I have to do is look at you and realize, “God will show me how.”

I hope you can find some comfort—some encouragement—in knowing that you are an inspiration to others. Because you are. I know you struggle at times, and that it’s not easy doing what you do. But that’s what makes you amazing. Because you keep on doing it.
